November 8, 2010

Its been a month since I have last been here, can you believe the weather is still awesome. Flowers are still blooming, Just so you can appreciate this , I live in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, affectionately known as winterpeg. This flower photo was taken on Nov. 7, 2010 pretty amazing for us. Christmas is coming, I always get the Christmas spirit early and by the time its upon us I am so done with it. Although I always seem to do Christmas eve shopping, which I really do hate. I never used to procrastinate. That crazy retriever of ours is still swimming at the dog park. He's braver than I.

Trees

The Hanging Tree
This photo is from little mountain park in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. It is very old and legend has it that it was used for public hangings. That is not quite why I am thinking trees though. It is fall and I read some interesting articles about trees and people. We have a symbiotic relationship to them, as a tree exhales oxygen, we inhale, and as we exhale carbon dioxide, the tree inhales. It seemed to be such a beautiful connection. "i thank you God for the leaping greenly spirits of trees" e.e.cummings. Does anyone know what comes next?

pictures of falltime at the dog park

Dreamtime

With autumn here and winter approaching we come to the time of introspection. Look deep inside to your roots and gather your strength around you. We spent two hours at the dog park today. The colours, scents, and sounds of fall were in the air. It was a glorious day. Thank you fixit and Lucy.  Miss Lucy was even catching feathers from some poor bird, whose fate I do not know.

Beautiful, glorious autumn!!

This is a look at one of the dog parks we sometimes go to for a change. Little Mountain Park, Winnipeg, Manitoba. Winnipeg has the largest urban forest in north America. It is a beautiful city, most streets are tree lined (both sides) so it seems that you are driving through green tunnels. There are acres of park grounds and in our case, thank goodness, acres of dog park grounds!

Mandala

Add caption
My first attempt at a mandala. Everything means something, a little from all the directions, north, south, east and west. Seems a little busy and messy, I guess it is a reflection of inner self.

exploring ontario

I was blessed to grow up here. This was pretty much my back yard.

10 hours in the car with 2 great dogs

You know I love those dogs, but driving to my dad's with them was a bit much. Lucy, the neurotic border collie, actually had to drive all the way with her head out my window. What a windblown look after 100 kms an hour. Now they can say they swam in Lake Superior! At least they got their toes wet.
the sleeping giant, lake superior.

reach the beach puppies

I wanted them to love the water so much, but I'm not so sure that border collies are that big on the water, although Fixit does seem to like it. It was too bad he kept trying to dunk her when we were trying to encourage her to swim.........

Learn Something New Everyday

I have recently been researching mandalas, and trying to make one. The mandala is a journey to finding your spirit.....a journey in and out.  I have also read that it is good art therapy, and goodness only knows a little therapy wouldn't hurt. I will post pictures of my progress, but until then here's a picture of some of my gardening, which has been sadly neglected.

Just kidding,
Here's another one

Yahoo! its Friday, not that I don't love my job, I do. I work outside around what we call the compound. Pretty much a dumping ground for all types of e-waste (electronics, computers, t.v.s etc.) I've been there awhile now and have gotten to be good friends with many of the customers. Interesting characters, all collecting something, which I usually find for them. Today, one of my favorite customers, always comes on Friday brought me a beautiful rosary. For those of you who are not catholic they are prayer beads. He always brings me beautiful treasures, and food. Usually a saskatoon berry pie, and chocolates and cookies and tarts. Its no wonder I have to work hard or I would be rolling home at the end of the day. J.B. collects anything made by Apple. Probably he has 2 or 3 of everything they have ever made, Apple as in ipod ...                        After work it was dog park time, Fixit's happy place, he's been going there since he was a baby. Lucy, being the best border collie she can be of course, loves to round him up while they are there, he tries to play with other dogs and she pretty much just chases after him , nipping at his back end all the way. I do love those dogs. I don't think they realize they could swim, they won't go out any farther than this.

hot summer days, dogs in fountains and the queen

The photographer and I were scootering around when didn't we see the cutest pup playing in the fountain, its about 38 above with the humidity, (sorry fixit and lucy, sometimes we go places without you and you guys have air conditioning anyway) and then a little further along who should we run into but the queen of england herself. While the queen may be pretty cool, her security was even cooler
.

Sunday morning, just got back from the dog park. We ran into the 'dogfather', (as he calls himself) there. Sure are alot of characters there. He knows everything there is to know about dogs, and everything else for that matter. The photographer and I have electric scooters for the weekend. Its actually alot of fun. Now we need sidecars for the dogs, I feel guilty on the weekends if I ditch them. Oh well, woof, woof, I'm going to anyway. Take a picnic and the cameras and go.
I joined facebook, it is as juvenile as my son said it was. Friends of friends of friends, that you don't even know, never mind being friends with, want to add you to their list. We are all connected, however we should take the time to define friend, and friendship and practice being a friend to someone. My childhood was so disrupted I never acquired childhood friends, people you grow up with, because I never lived anywhere long enough. I think I could revisit that and be a kid again and then maybe I could growup. Oh well, zoom, zoom I'm off on my speedy scooter. I'll post some pictures when I return.

Sunday evening, still haven't got too far with this. The day was perfect, spent with the two dogs and my photographer, I wanted to design a yoga space today but.....find myself very lazy. Train your body and hopefully mind and spirit follow. I was always so sure of my goals and direction and now I don't think I have any. Ahhhhh! I guess that's okay for now. I had the strangest connection on facebook recently, my sister, whom I have not seen since we were little found me. Hummmm, she is very beautiful and now a grandma, I see her in my mind as she was when we were separated. It makes me sad that we never got to grow up together. I cried myself to sleep and prayed to be brought back together for so many years, and that never happened. Now she is here. Well tomorrow is Monday and back to work with me.I am a teacher by profession and probably by soul, but right now I am working (my butt off) in the e-waste recycling business. I am blessed to work with super people, `grandma, Mr. Friday and naked camping guy`. You can bet I'll be telling all of their tales here. Unfortunately, n.c.guy took the photo away from me, but I'm sure there is a copy somewhere, and of course Mr. Friday might not be at work tomorrow, his culture seems to dictate that he take a long weekend every weekend!(that's okay M. you won't set us back too far I hope). This is me, saying goodnight to you.

Welcome, under construction!

yes, this is me...... I've just aged very gracefully. Now at the age of 48 my goal is to hopefully grow up and grow within. "Let only good spirits guide you" I've been told and I have been blessed with a magical friend, the good witch Wendy. Love you Wendy and , yes you are required to be one of my blog followers! Wendy is full of wise witch wisdom which I will share here with you. There are so many people in my life that I will introduce. I'm not sure where I will be going with this, but I hope it evolves into a place of spirit, lots of humor as my life is full of eccentric characters, goofy boys, 2 bestest dogs, 2 rotten cats, 2 birds, and my very own photographer, whom I adore. Ta ta for now, I am very unorganized but I will be back.
